Marijn – Nothing beats discipline

Some journeys don’t follow a straight line. Marijn’s started not in open water or on a race bike, but in a gym — learning the hard way that strength isn’t something you’re born with, it’s something you build. After a humbling reality check in a military prep program, he spent eight years in the world of powerlifting, chasing progress one kilogram at a time.

Then his brother introduced him to triathlon. What began as weekend fun slowly turned into something deeper. When the world went quiet during Covid, Marijn turned up the volume — applying the same relentless mindset he’d learned under the bar to the road, the pool, and the open water. It turned out endurance was where he truly belonged.

National victories followed. Then a pro license. Now, Marijn competes at the highest level — not despite the unconventional path he took, but because of it.

We’re proud to support him on that journey!
